Games like today’s, top of the table vs bottom, are traditionally tough games as one team has nothing to lose, and the other has everything to lose.
Our attitude today was much improved, and it was scoring the three points and not the number of goals that was important.
It took 5 minutes to score when Scott Payne finished well. He then scored his second of four goals 5 m inutes later after some good interplay.
After half time it was all about attitude and we played some good football for Scott Payne to score his third and fourth goals 5 minutes into the second half. His fourth goal came after showing great control in the box to turn and tuck it past the keeper. Within 20 minutes of this a corner from Steve Hudson allowed Dave Geraets to head the ball into the corner of the goal to make it 5-nil. Less than 10 minutes later a corner from Glen Atkins allowed Dave Geraets to head in his second goal of the game. This was followed a matter of minutes later by Jason Puddle scoring a nice individual goal from a Steve Hudson flick.
7-nil was a reasonable outcome, but the team attitude was terrific.
